The Lord puts the “EXTRA” into the “ordinary”

Matthew 10:1-14 And when He had called unto Him His Twelve Disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Now the names of the Twelve Apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

These Twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Wow! Twelve “ordinary” men, hand-picked by Jesus to do extraordinary things! You’ve heard people say, “If I can do it, anyone can!” Well, these were not just random choices the Lord made as He walked along the countryside. These men were created for a purpose. They were called to serve and so were we.

I realize there is debate sometimes about Judas’ role and wondered why he would have been chosen to be among them, The Father absolutely knew that he would certainly deny Christ. Proverbs 16:4 tells us “The LORD hath made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”

Jeramiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

The Lord is not astonished or surprised with what goes on in this world. Even the most vile actions by wicked people, our Father knew beforehand. Unfortunately, sin took a tragic on the world, and through that, depravity, sickness, death and all between is allowed as a consequence. Our ONE and ONLY HOPE is by the Blood of Christ. We certainly aren’t immune to suffering, but we are guaranteed eternal life with our Lord if we put our trust in Him ALONE as our Savior.

Who wants to serve God if He is shaken by cataclysmic events? One who has to figure it out as He goes along? No, I digress, Jesus chose Judas purposely, just as He did the other eleven. Now, if He selected them to represent Him and entrusted His Mission to them, certainly we are not exempt from accomplishing what He created us to do!

When the enemy whispers to us, how insignificant our calling is, remember that he is a LIAR!! Satan takes great delight in attempting to convince God’s children that we constantly fall short and fail the Father. God says in our weakness, He is stronger. So sure, call us feable, in that, we exault the Lord, and the enemy is defeated once again! This is not at all the result our evil foe wanted, to bring glory to God! The fact of the matter is, we were given a calling by our King! That is nothing to be taken lightly. Whatever our tasks are, we can consider ourselves honored the Lord of All Creation entrusted us with it!
Almighty God
Thank You for this beautiful day
Please forgive our sins against You, others and ourselves
Father, we give You praise for our calling
If we don’t know what it is, if we aren’t doing what we are suppose to do
Show us, please, and we know that You will give us the ability, even if we don’t see it
You make all things possible, Lord
The situations we cannot understand
Have been constructed to bring You honor and praise
And to bring us to a better understanding and a closeness with You
You are forever faithful, Lord
In the Name of Your Son, Jesus

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
