DEVOTIONAL: HOT, LUKEWARM Or COLD, Believers, Baths and Coffee

Revelation 3:15-16

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.

Believers, Baths & Coffee
Revelation 3: 6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
7 And to the Angel of the Church in Philadelphia write; These things saith He that Is Holy, He that Is True, He that hath the Key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My Word, and hast not denied My Name.9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.10 Because thou hast kept the Word of My Patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

There are servants of God who are truly on fire for Him, not allowing opinion to dictate what the Lord leads them to share. They are in the Word, searching, seeking and learning because they realize what a tremendous responsibility it is to stand before others and instruct, according to Scripture.
The Truth is pure. Does it convict and even offend, indeed it does. Did Jesus back down or away from topics considered “offensive”? Did He step delicately into situations, fearful someone might find His teachings objectionable?
Pastors, genuine men of God, follow the ways of Jesus Christ. Did Jesus worry that someone may approach Him, saying something was over the top and if He wanted to draw maximum capacity, He really should soften to a more seeker sensitive mode? Did He ever apologize for hurting someone’s feelings by speaking the Truth?
II Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
The world is full of “ear ticklers”. That number is increasing at a staggering rate. People who claim to follow Jesus, sit comfortably as “preachers” stand behind pulpits across this land, delivering sermons downloaded from the Internet, rather than trusting the Holy Spirit to speak through them.
Many who are in charge of shepherding the “flock”, inject Bible references to the lesson, yet the remainder of the time is spent on stories, video clips or book promotions. Some are focused on “sermon series” and dare not stray from it. When did it become more important to stay on schedule than simply opening God’s Word, leaving room for the Lord to lead and direct a service with a message the congregation needs to hear?
Are the preachers prayerfully searching the Word of God, being prompted by Him as to what needs to be taught? Perhaps they peruse the latest trending Christian book, check out headlines, movie clips or Internet sermon suggestions to find what best suits their audience? Maybe if clergy would delve into the WRITTEN Word of God, less of them would be online, falling prey to other temptations.. perhaps.
If that is not spiritually lukewarm! The temperature is lowering quickly. Truth diluted by anything is corrupt, morphed into opinion. Eventually most churches will grow cold altogether, By then, they will have already been spewed out by the Lord.
MATTHEW 24: 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Such are the days of old, and the days to come. There will be many who come, claiming to be of the same Spirit, yet are not. We are living, as did our ancestors, among wolves in sheep clothing. Behind far too many pulpits, stand heretics, who have dragged the church of the Living God into the miry clay. They confuse and mislead with corrupt and perverse doctrines. Our God is NOT the author of confusion! 1 Corinthians 14:33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
It is a slippery slope from lukewarm to cold, where the Truth of God’s Word is abandoned altogether and replaced with man-made theology. It is past the point of rejecting Almighty God, now to await His judgment and wrath.
Leaders persuade others to adopt their philosophies, packaging and presenting subtly. They understand all too well that there are those searching, eager to accept deception. An emaciated man may ingest anything resembling food, so too, those who are desperate may latch hold of something presented as truth.
The net is cast for anyone willing to forgo seeking out God’s Word for himself or herself. The lure and seduction is absolutely “spiritual”, but it is deceptive and far from Jesus.
We are responsible for who we follow; lessons, sermons, music and anything else we take in because we are given the Holy Spirit to teach, guide and instruct us. God’s Word is the ONLY PURE TRUTH! How about if the ONLY Book presented from the pulpit is none other than the Word of God!
It is truly heartbreaking to think of how many will perish because they did not accept the Word of the Living God to be “relevant”! How even more dreadful it will be to those who taught others to believe likewise!
Sometimes while I am writing the devotionals at night, Jonathan draws a bath for me. He knows I enjoy a hot tub and depending on where I am in the devotional, he determines how much cool water to add.
It seems like every time I go in there, I don’t know how he does it, but the temperature is just right! Ironically, when I run my own, I either underestimate how much longer I will be working, get on the phone or start watching a show, completely forgetting about my water. When I finally go in there, it is frigid or even worse, tepid. Ick!
I totally understand the Father’s objection to lukewarm. It is unpleasing and has no real purpose other than to be discarded.
McDonald’s has some pretty good mocha ice coffee that I enjoy when I have to drive somewhere or have a few days to stay awake. It contains a serious dose caffeine, unfriendly to my sensitivity!
Jonathan does not understand the entire concept of “iced” coffee! He is a straight black, no cream, no sugar, “high octane”, old school man. He is not big on “designer” blends or anything like that.
I like cold, he likes tongue-scorching hot, anything in between is just a wasted cup and ends up disposed!
I went to lunch and a movie with a sweet friend today and I told her that while I was getting dressed for the outing , I wished it was either cold or hot outside so I could dress one way or the other. I can dress for cold and also for the heat, but when it gets to that in between time, it is hard to decide either way !
It was then I told her that I was going to address the topic of “lukewarm” tonight. You would not believe how many times when we were out, we heard that term or a variation of it!
If any of these (previous or future) statements are contrary to Scripture, please alert me (backed with Book, Chapter and Verse), so I can read, pray and correct. I do not apologize, however, for the Lord’s Words, my belief in Them or freedom to express!

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
