Devotional: True Conversion By God’s Power or Coercion By Man

1 Peter 35 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

PROVERBS 23:9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

Matthew 10:13-14 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you And whosoever shall not receive your, nor hear your words, when ye depart our of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Luke 9:4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

Proverbs 9:7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

For many years I have talked and tried to reason with someone who claims to be a believer yet has no fruits to show that.

Sadly there are many in this world who may think they are “safe”, simply because they walked an aisle as a youngster or perhaps they were baptized and were told that was sufficient to get them to Heaven, although their speech nor actions reflect a godly life.

I am not talking about someone who does nothing wrong. That’s my point, if you are a Believer, you will understand that true salvation is not a conversion of someone immediately into a perfect person, but a person who is in the process completed only when we’re united with our Creator.

People walk down aisles during alter calls for a myriad of reasons. The tragedy is for those who do this drawn by a feeling, never truly understanding what or why.

How many do you think have walked down there and without having anyone to explain repentance and pass through life unchanged, assuming their entire lives what they did was sufficient to save them from Hell. What a deep and disturbing thought that is!

It certainly looks pretty and even a bit impressive to have a large group gathered at the front of the church or revival, committing their lives to Christ, but who is going to talk to them, shepherd them, converse with them to help them understand and recognize genuine conversion?

I am not talking about judging someone’s heart, only the Lord is able to do that. I just think it can be irresponsible of a leader or anyone pronouncing that someone is saved, not knowing.

Without explaining putting on the new man, fruits of the Spirit, evidence and proof of an earnest attempt to live a godly life, someone could believe salvation was just a box they checked and live assuming they have eternal security when actually they do not.

Out of 3,000 that came forward, if even one is mislead into a false sense of security, woe be to those responsible for misguiding that sheep.

Going back to my introduction, I have been trying to convince someone they need the Lord. My godly friends have reminded me many times that I am NOT the Holy Spirit. I have talked and talked for years and I know in my heart they are right, then my pride keeps arguing that if I say enough, eventually I will get them to understand.

The Lord takes me back to the Tower of Babel where mankind spoke different languages. That to me is like trying to reason with an unbeliever. Not being superior, but by the Grace of God, we simply speak differently. Our language is that of a Kindred Spirit, being Children of God. Without the Holy Spirit, those who do not believe in Christ CANNOT UNDERSTAND!

If I was in a room with someone who only spoke something foreign to me and I tugged at my shirt, wanting to know what their word was for shirt, do you think they would comprehend what I wanted to convey, very doubtful. So it is with non-believers, I can gesture, sing, shout, whatever means, but without the Great Translator of our Holy Spirit, attempts to communicate will only cause frustration and evidence the differences between us.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. AFTER PRAYING (and seeking godly counsel regarding approach when necessary), we can go to someone who claims to be a brother or sister in Christ and ask them if we don’t see fruits or if we understand they are involved in something they should not, holding them accountable to their profession to be a Child of God. If we are met with resistance or argument, leave it with the Lord.

We can point to the Scriptures to those who are Believers and we can introduce Truth to those who are not, but I certainly have found nowhere in The Word to support arguing someone into a walk with Christ. This seems contradictory to the Bible and for an unbeliever, doesn’t that make Christians seem like bullies?

The Lord stands at the door and KNOCKS, He doesn’t kick it in and force anyone into a relationship with Him, therefore we have no authority or “calling” to do so!

Although we have Truth to back up the resons for our faith in Christ, it will be foolishness to unbelievers who are under the delusion and staunchly believe they are right. Remember, they rationalize anything; convincing themselves even the most perverse is justifiable. Only the Lord is able to fight this battle and HE HAS ALREADY PREVAILED!

Our Most High God
Please show us when to speak up boldly for You and when it is time to move on and shake the dust from our feet
We cannot save anyone, Father
Nothing we say or do brings someone to salvation, Lord
Lest any man may boast, it is the work of the Holy Spirit Who calls and draws individuals to You
Ephesians 2:8-98 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
No alter call
Nor singing verse after verse of Christian songs can draw a single sinner into Your Kingdom
That would be man taking credit for something only You can do
Man is not saved by spiritual coercion or emotional manipulation
It is ONLY through Your Power ALONE
Wooing each child’s heart to Almighty God

Father, please protect those hearts from being deceived that just because someone followed a crowd down and aisle to the front of the church, they are secure.
Jeremiah 17:99 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Until the Lord reveals the wickedness of our hearts, we are subjected to deception, so please, Father, rather than responding to feelings, let them not step forward unless the Holy Spirit has convicted them of their need for You
Genuine repentance and sincere desire to follow You
Father we know there is no spark unless the Holy Spirit ignites us

Your Word says:
Romns 3: 10-12 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Please make clear no one “leads” another to You, but You draw us to Yourself, Merciful Savior

May we be bold and courageous, proclaiming Your Word

Attracting our spirit to others You’ve called

Giving us compassion for those who do not believe or understand

You call us to be Fishers of men

Lead us and give us wisdom as to how, O God

Open our hearts to prayer for the lost

Let us please extend grace and mercy to others as You have shown to us

Living lives consistent with Your Will

Devoting ourselves to prayer

Serving as encouragers

If we become frustrated in attempting to witness, Father

Please show us when it is time to let go

Let all who observe us, recognize that we are one of Yours

If anyone does come to the Lord upon interaction with Your servants, please let them realize that not one person or group of people came to know You because of them but because You made Yourself known

Father, please let us not be impressed and brag about the churches who week after week have so many coming forward, but give praise to the Lord where it belongs.

Please keep leaders accountable to shepherding and teaching rather than consumed with pride by accepting credit for ushering them into Your Family

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
