Devotional: Forget The Memorable! Remember The Unforgettable!

Proverbs 4:20-21 My son, attend to My words; incline thine ear unto My sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Today the dj on the radio station was announcing her channel and said that it was the “one where everyone knows every word to every song”. I thought that was preposterous, however, I must admit I did indeed know every word to the oldies they played.

The Lord in His amazing ways, showed me right then how I could bring to recollection some insignificant lyrics, yet when it comes to knowing His Word, I often times end up paraphrasing because I have not inclined my mind to memorizing Scripture as I should.

As we age, we always need to keep our minds active and engaged to stay mentally sharp and alert. The way this world is going, chronologically mature individuals are quickly losing respect from the younger generations. It is crucial that we not allow ourselves to grow complacent. As we age, we will be may very well be deemed by society as insignificant, obsolete and unnecessary.

Memory loss: 7 tips to improve your memory (List from MAYO CLINIC-I added the verses)
1. Stay mentally active (Philippians 4:8)
2. Socialize regularly (Acts 2:42)
3. Get organized (Proverbs 13:4)
4. Sleep well (Mark 6:31)
5. Eat a healthy diet (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
6. Include physical activity in your daily routine (1 Corinthians 9:27)
7. Manage chronic conditions (Proverbs 1:7)

Almighty Lord our God
Thank You for a sound mind
We ask that You will lead us into training it to serve us
To memorize Your Precious Word

We live daily with the permission to carry Scriptures boldly and publically, Father
But we do not know the day or hour that freedom could be stripped away
What would we have then, God, other than what we remember
How accurate would that be
How long would that sustain us

Please give us a yearning to know and recall Your Word
It is the ONLY Truth worthy to occupy our minds

Let’s share it and encourage one another to hold fast to
Golden Nuggets of Pure Truth
May we treasure Your Word in our minds, hearts and spirits

Instill, please, a hunger and thirst for Your Instruction and Guidance

Please give us an aching enthusiasm about retaining the intimate words of
Your Love Letter to us, O God

In the Name of Jesus,

“Thy Word”

Encouraging words of the Scripture, family and friends
ability and opportunity to share God’s Word

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
