Devotional: Procrastination~Throwing Away Time

Proverbs 2:1-5

2 My son, if thou wilt receive My words, and hide My commandments with thee;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

Today was not EVEN funny! When I lived in SC, my home gym offered participation in a triathlon where we had the entire month to finish it.

We had a form hanging on the gym wall with the requirements and checked off (using an “honor system”) our boxes as we progressed.

Kindly, since I moved, the Activity Director there has allowed me to participate using the gym here for the past two years.

Typically I start no later than the first week of March because I know the longer I take to get with it, the more I will have to do each time to get finished.

This year, I have piddled around, committed to too many things or was just plain lazy, so I did not start my workout until today.

I did, PRAISE GOD, get some work accomplished, although I wasn’t as encouraged as I have been in the past. I realize what is ahead of me and how much I must do to finish. Completion is not an option! I am far too competitive for that~

Well, I just woke up from about a 4 hour “rest” after attempting to cram as many of the requirements as possible this morning! Smugly, I was convinced since I am in much better shape than I previous years going in to this, it would not be an issue starting so late! WRONG!

It is in our best interests to pray, read and study the Scriptures daily! Our relationship with Christ and knowledge of His Word is not intended to fit into one or two days a week! We certainly don’t want to procrastinate when it comes to getting to know Jesus or His teachings!

Let’s get up from life’s couch and get out there, enjoying the beautiful day with our Father, talking to Him, listening to what He has to say.

I can’t go back to the first of the month and pace myself at this point. The days are gone. I can only move on from here until I am done.

If you came to the Lord as a child or are only now developing that relationship; if you walked away from Him and are your journey back, don’t beat yourself up about time lost, move forward.

Time cannot be “made up”, attempting to do so will not only drain you physically, emotionally and spiritually, it is an exercise in futility. Move forward and endeavor to use wisely the remainder of what you’re given!

O Holy God

Moment by moment we need You, Father

Please let us recognize and acknowledge our dependence upon You!

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
