Devotional: Cast Your Net Again!

John 21:1-11

21 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed He Himself.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of His disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto Him, We also go with Thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered Him, No.

6 And He said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein

(rhetorical) Let’s say you have spent all night working on something to no avail. Disgusted and weary, you finally concede that you just weren’t getting anywhere so you were calling it “quits” for a while.

Now,pulling into your driveway, eyes blurred, muscles aching with some irritability issues going on there, how would you receive the Lord telling you to go back and do it again? Would you furrow your brow, mutter under your breath or jump eagerly right back into whatever it was you were doing? Let us wave our spiritual “white flag” of surrender to that of our Father’s Will.

1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.three stooges

What have we gained through our own attempts at ANYTHING, apart from God? Some unbelievers may look or seem successful .. Are they really? Our future is guaranteed in Eternity with and through the Blood of Christ. No stockholders, not Hollywood nor anyone outside of Believers has that claim!

Even if you’re weary, frustrated or discouraged, listen to what the Father is leading you to do. Let’s stop stomping spiritual little feet at the foot of the Throne with an attitude, insisting that we just CAN’T endure another moment of disappointment! Some may look at the first verses and remain utterly surprised that the Lord.. The One Who CONQUERED DEATH, could draw a few fish into the Disciples’ nets! Be awestruck.. Wonder at His power, absolutely..but be far from surprised! “Our God Is Greater”

Trust Him! If He says to do something, it is not without reason! He will come through and in a way you will know it could have only been the LORD.. Oh, and let’s remember to be thankful! (Of the 10 who were healed, be the 1, falling at His feet in praise!)

Luke 17:11-19

Motivation: Well, what if no diamonds fall from the sky? What if there isn’t a money tree sprouting in the back yard? I DID what the Father asked.. sooo…what is “in” it for me. I mean, yeah, here I am, a Believer, all righteous and everything, but isn’t there something TANGIBLE .. Something I can look at to remind me (and others) how godly I am? Psalm 139: . 23Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.Little cute angel with a wings and halo over head. – Stock …

OBEDIENCE IS ITS OWN REWARD! Praise God every time we submit to His will rather than our own! Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit; therefore, we have no inclination even toward following the Will of God, lest He set it in our hearts to do so. The word “self”, lending some to think that we, in our own power, decide to yield.

Paul recorded struggles between fleshly desires and the man of God his heart yearned to be. It is an inner battle until we are rescued unto Glory,

Our Most Gracious Lord

Abba, Father

We cry out to You

Help us

Please help our children

Pour into us, Almighty One

Desire to obey You

Sometimes we try so hard in our own strength

Other times, not enough or at all

In Romans 3:11, You tell us “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God”

How heartbreaking that is to read and try to comprehend

We are so focused on our own lives

What we want

What we have convinced ourselves that we need

We find ourselves in the same predicament as Scriptures point out in

Romans 7:15 For that which I do I know not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Please reconcile our heart to Your will
We want to see You, Father
To know You
To be known by You

Please help us
Forgive and heal our attitudes
About casting our nets out again

Please make it our heart’s desire to obey
For no other reason than to please You

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
